John & Brian Greer at Loch Ness near Inverness, Scotland

Loch Ness is a deep fresh water loch (lake) near the city of Inverness, where the Loch Ness Monster is said to have lived. The first rumors of a Loch Ness monster date back to 565 AD when Saint Columba rescued a Pict (a man from the Pictish Nation—an ancient race) from the alleged monster. The first modern sighting was in 1933, which led to many more over the years. Whether the Loch Ness monster really exists or not, it has been very good economically for the town of Inverness.
